In life, you, I or anyone must think with unfailingly "easy" logic, meaning what is important must come first no matter what. No matter how much we like what is important or do not like what is important, we must do it first or pay the consequences. This is what I mean by "hard work and easy logic" in my title. Because knowing what to do is easy, but doing it is sometimes hard. You know what I am talking and typing about. Reality has no mercy, for, what must be done, must be done and in the right time, place, way and context or meaning. Why? Because everything, including business works by natural laws that vary for no one except hen handled correctly. Sure, we can try to cheat these laws, but for this reason indeed, cheaters never ever prosper. Only straightforward, honest and hard, yet smart workers make it genuinely with honesty in their inward and outward matters of life, business and existence.

Ok Patrick... at the very end of that YouTube video he said "if someone is promoting family values there is a Very Good Chance that person is gay." Not just a higher than average chance, but a very good chance. Do you really believe that? Do you believe that of ALL the people out there talking about family values have an excellent chance of being gay? That is a pretty ludicrous statement... there are definitely a percentage of them that do have homosexual tendencies, but I would not say that that "there is a very good chance they are gay." Not sure how you would conduct a scientific experiment to verify that claim, but I also know that anecdotal evidence does not prove a point. People who are in the limelight of an issue and turn out to act contrary to that position are discussed and reported upon much more than others. In any case, your logical mind Patrick should definitely understand that a person's actions do not reflect his values 100% of the time :) People struggle with lots of things they know to be wrong.

I know I've pretty much ripped apart your entire blog, deservedly, but this is why global warming is extremely dangerous. I also have a theory as to why you and many others don't believe it (or at least claim not to). Check out this site and tell me it's BS.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/mcclatchy/20100307/sc_mcclatchy/3444187

Please wake up.

I know this doesn't fit in any recent entry, but this has been on my mind more and more these days. There are MANY such stories just like this one emerging. Can someone explain this?

http://www.youtube.com/user/theyoungturks?blend=1&ob=4#p/u/1/WBwrjpTwhoA

A retort using cable news ratings prety much sums up your case. Olbermann isn't all that impressive, however ratings say nothing of the veracity of their content. For example, between 41% and 49% of Americans believe that the earth is less than 10,000 years old. That certainly doesn't mean that it's any more liekly to be true.

Why do I bring this up? Because given the religous education of our kids -- and the religous education of adults within diploma mills like those established by Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell (RIP)-- it's not a point in any politcal opinion show host's favor to recieve high ratings from an ignorant American public.

However, there are pockets of enlightenment in our culture. The political host whom I posted above is a rising voice among us. There's a reason the world outside of the US (unacknowledged and not even understood by most conservatives) laughs at people like O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, and the rest.

Here's a comedian destroying Hannity. This is one clip of hundreds.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ir52yjqgxA

Thanks for bringing up the Dominionists. I have never heard of them. However, I would put myself into the camp that Jesus fulfilled the O.T. and the idea that we are "not under the law." This concept is mentioned frequently throughout the N.T.

As far as Jesus promoting the O.T. and maintaining it's edicts I will let Patrick live in that world. More often than not Jesus references the O.T. because the Jews of that time lived with, and followed, the O.T. Therefore referencing it (and its foretelling of himself as well) would have been expected. Also, the O.T. is not "out" and the N.T. "in".... it's just that we do not live under the O.T., we live "under the grace of the N.T." so to speak. The O.T. has it's points and they are still valid, but they are not the rule book which they were to those living in that time.

Just a point on your assertion that Jesus fulfilled the O.T.: Many Christians are not at all convinced that it follows that O.T. law no longer applies. Talk to the rising group who call themselves Dominionists, or Christian Reconstructionists, and they will readily tell you that the evidence that Jesus repealed O.T. law is vastly insufficient. Dominionists simply bite the bullet and say, 'Ya, that is what God wants.'

I'm sure Dustin recalls our exchange of N.T. passages where Jesus appeared to either reject or renew O.T. law, and in my opinion Jesus' statements of renewal far outweigh his apparent recantations.

So, if Dustin doesn't want to answer to the laws articulated in Leviticus, then can he find a moral concept or two advocated by Jesus (and Dustin can certainly find one or two) which are distasteful, and explain why he does not follow them? Or, more easily, can Dustin speculate as to why the vast majority of Dominionists choose not to slay people who work on Sundays or kill fornicators? After all, if you were certain (certain enough to push political legislation) that the creator of the universe commanded such actions to be taken, wouldn't it be reckless NOT to abide?

I will start with you Torah comments and then address your Potter "defense."

Christians do not live by the law of the O.T. because Christ fulfilled it. That is Christianity 101. Furthermore, how many people did Christ kill? Christians are followers/imitators of Christ. PLUS, the O.T. references commands from God and miraculous signs such as billows of fire to lead them through deserts, or manna appearing every morning out of thin air. They clearly are talking about people with a direct connection to God, where God commanded their lives. If you would like to debate that point, that is one thing, but to place the O.T. writings directly on the back of Christians like you do is uninformed nonsense which has clearly come about from your life long struggle against religion.

To your comment of the potter and the clear difference between humans, I would like to ask "why?" The pot and the human are both simply materials mashed together in a certain order, correct? I don't understand how people like to argue that humans are special and different when they evolved just like everything else. If evolution were true, there is no more significance in what a human says or does than what a tree doesn't say or doesn't do. To argue otherwise is to argue on the side of a creator. Plus the topic of abortion becomes very interesting indeed if humans are more special than other organisms...

With regard to the potter not being able to punish the pot for eternity, the clear discrepancy is that the potter is not God. He is just used in that sense for this analogy. I believe I stated in my writing that there is NO analogy for creating something from nothing and there is also no way for the creation of something to explain the reality of it's creator. They do not exist in the same sphere of reality, nor could they. One clearly has more knowledge than the other, which is displayed by the fact that it was able to create the latter.

Patrick, I like hearing your arguments, but your "glasses of atheism" are so tinted that you will never be able to see any light through them.

Why do you keep responding to my entries anyway?
